Cochin International Airport Limited

Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), incorporated on 30 March 1994 and based in Kochi, Kerala, was India's first greenfield airport built under the public-private-partnership model. The Kerala state government remains its largest shareholder, at roughly 32% of equity. CIAL is often cited for its early push on sustainable airport operations, and it became the first airport in the world to run entirely on solar power. It is one of India's busier international gateways, having built a reputation around operational efficiency, sustainability and service quality. Beyond passenger and cargo handling, CIAL's business spans duty-free retail, dining and shopping, ground transport, security, accommodation, aircraft MRO services, and dedicated infrastructure for perishable cargo. It also runs an aviation training institute covering pilots, cabin crew, engineers, technicians and ground staff. To support this range of activities, CIAL has set up several subsidiaries — Cochin International Aviation Services Limited, Air Kerala International Services Limited, CIAL Infrastructure Limited, CIAL Duty Free and Retail Services Limited, and Kerala Waterways and Infrastructures Limited — extending its reach across aviation, infrastructure and allied services.
