Kurlon Enterprise

Kurl-on Limited is the holding company of Kurlon Enterprise, in which it holds an 85.06% stake. The Kurl-on story traces back to Ramesh Pai, who, during a trip to Germany, noticed high-end car seats made from rubberised coconut-coir fibre sourced from Sri Lanka. Recognising that India was among the world's largest coconut producers, Pai returned home to explore how the country's own coir husk could be put to better use — at the time, it was mostly used in cottage-industry retted-fabric production. That idea eventually became Karnataka Consumer Products Limited, later known as Kurl-on, built around Austrian technology for extracting and curling coir fibre into rope, and expanding from mattresses into cushions and mats. In 2004, the company moved beyond sleep products into the broader home-comfort segment. Today, Kurl-on manufactures mattresses across 126 configurations, working with a pan-India network of more than 10,000 dealers, 72 branch and stock points, and nine manufacturing facilities spread across Karnataka, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Gujarat.
